An unskool where learning connects with life

At Yen’s World School, children learn through academics, nature, movement, music, technology and everyday experiences. Our learning community in the suburbs of Thiruvananthapuram makes room for different interests, abilities and ways of understanding the world.

We call ourselves an unskool because we rethink how school can work for a child. Here, curiosity has space, individuality is respected, and learning extends beyond the textbook.

Our unskool brings together a purposeful timetable, academic study, practical exploration and caring guidance. Children have the freedom to discover their strengths while developing the skills to move forward.

Our educational approach

Our pedagogy revolves around four interconnected pillars: Life Skills, Nature, Performing Arts and STEM. Together, these pillars create a learning experience that supports the whole child.

Life Skills

Everyday experiences help children practise independence, communication, collaboration, problem-solving and responsibility—skills they can carry into their homes, relationships and future lives.

Nature

The natural world becomes a space for observation, exploration and discovery. Learning outdoors helps children connect classroom ideas with their surroundings and develop care for the environment.

Performing Arts

Western Ballet, Bharatanatyam, Cinematic Dance, Yoga, Indian and Western Music bring movement, expression and creativity into the school day. Children develop confidence, coordination, discipline and the joy of practising something together.

STEM

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics encourage children to question, investigate, build and test ideas. Digital learning, coding and our AION™ curriculum help them explore technology with curiosity and sound judgement.

Our foundation: core values and SEL

Supporting all four pillars is Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

We help children recognise emotions, understand others, build healthy relationships and make thoughtful choices. Empathy, kindness, respect, resilience and responsibility grow through daily interactions, shared experiences and supportive conversations.

Academics: NCERT and CK-12

Our academic learning uses NCERT textbooks followed in the CBSE curriculum, complemented by CK-12’s interactive digital learning resources and age-appropriate content.

Children study English, Hindi, Malayalam or French, Mathematics, EVS, Social Studies and other subjects appropriate to their level. Teachers combine textbook learning with discussion, practical activities, digital exploration and projects to build understanding.

What makes Yen’s World School different?

At Yen’s, a broader education is built into the timetable.

Alongside academic subjects, our curriculum includes:

IT and AI, with IT textbooks and practical learning experiences such as Scratch.
Yoga.
Western Ballet.
Bharatanatyam and Cinematic Dance.
Carnatic Music.
Western Piano and Keyboard.
Life Skills.

These subjects receive dedicated teaching time, term-wise assessments and projects, alongside regular academic subjects.

Their place in our school goes beyond a hobby session: they are part of each child’s education, with opportunities to practise, progress and demonstrate learning.

Understanding the child. Supporting the next step.

Our early childhood assessment framework looks beyond academic outcomes to understand how children explore, communicate, think, create and grow. Inspired by James Heckman’s research on capability development and early investment, YPP follows each child’s progress over time.

AION™ — Our in-house AI curriculum

Curious minds. Thoughtful technology.

Developed in-house by Yen’s World Foundation, AION introduces AI literacy across learning levels, from playful discovery for younger children to critical thinking, creative projects and responsible AI use for older students.

Yen’s World School is funded by Yen’s World Foundation, a public trust. Our educational purpose is to nurture capable, compassionate and curious individuals through learning that values the whole child.
